Wishing all our Chinese readers a very Happy and Prosperous Tiger year!!

As 2009 draws to an end, the holiday spirit has certainly livened up, with the malls decorated through the roof and the smile on everyone’s face. Coupled with those year end sales and time spent with family and friends, everyone is having the greatest time of the year.
Here at Apexture Photography, we’d like to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and an extraordinarily Happy New Year. [insert jingle bell carol]
2009 has been a blast. And 2010 will even be better. We sure hope to see you along in this ride.

Dear Ghee Sin,
We have some great news for you!
The judges in the Digital Camera Photographer of the Year competition have reached a decision – and we’re extremely pleased to tell you that your image, Nostalgia, has been given a Commended award in the Animals category.
More than 120,000 entries were received for the 2008 competition, and this was a hotly contested category. You should feel proud of your achievement.

Nostalgia
The above winning shot was taken while I was about to leave the zoo. A friendly zoo keeper, seeing me with that huge DSLR, approached me and asked if I would like to shoot some good pictures. Of course I wouldn’t decline such an offer. He led me into a restricted area. It was then I saw this caged orang utan looking nostalgically into the distance.
He must be thinking of his happy days swinging from tree to tree in the wild..

Last time someone asked for our business card, we didn’t have one. So we decided to design one ourselves.
Now, they are done! The business cards. It took us two weeks from first draft until getting the final prints. It was a fun process, with the first design shown its way to the scrapyard, then a different opinion on choosing an eye-popping vertical design or a more common horizontal approach, and finally a brawl on the street. Okay, kidding on the last part.
But, really, we bet the same process will take four weeks instead of two if we add another two stakeholders.

Last week I visited my aunt in Kuala Lumpur and stayed at her place for a few nights. It happened that her church was having this mini concert – Thru’ the Roof 3 over the same weekend, and my cousin Paul was performing as a guitarist. Feeling proud of her beloved son, my aunt asked me to take a few photos of him performing in the concert. Before that, I wasn’t very keen on attending as the mere thought of the jumping and screaming in a typical concert (especially one packed with teenagers) made my aged bones cracked and shivered. I agreed anyway, otherwise I would have been kicked out her door and brought to the court.
The crowd, were having a good time.

More images after the jump.. Continue reading Paul, the Guitarist
