Creative art lasts but a fleeting moment – Seize it

London Design Festival 2010 – ‘Outrace’ is launched in Trafalgar Square, an installation designed by Clemens Weisshaar & Reed Kram, commissioned for the festival.

“The installation OUTRACE consists of 8 large-scale industrial robots on loan from Audi’s Ingolstadt production lines. A powerful LED light source is positioned at the tool head of each robot. By logging into www.outrace.org with a mobile device or computer a global audience as well as visitors to Trafalgar Square are empowered to direct the path of the light held by each robotic tentacle, creating a letter trace and text message on this most public square.”

When I first read about the news, I was ecstatic. I mean, how often would you get the chance to remotely control robots thousand of miles away? Alright, you aren’t actually controlling the robots per se, but you get them to do your bidding – writing text messages the light painting way. In short, it’s simply amazing.

I began to think about the message that I want the world to see. The first idea that struck me is to simply declare my love to someone. Yes, I know, I could be very romantic. :D But since this is a photography website, I will settle with something related.

The message is multi facet. In life, opportunity, too slips away in a blink.

OUTRACE MESSAGE # 227: Creative art lasts but a fleeting moment – Seize it

In memory of AFE8105

This post isn’t interesting, nor exciting, but I want to put it up as it’s something tragic I experienced on Thursday.

AFE8105, is not camera model (as opposed to what my friend first thought), it is a car. To be exact, the plate number of my car.

The car was stolen on Thursday night.

When I reached the LRT station parking lot and my car was nowhere in sight, I searched frantically for it, but nada. Nil. Zilch. My car was gone. :(

A few phone calls to my cousins and soon we were on our way to make police report. First to the police station along Old Klang Road, then to another police station at Jalan Pudu. By the time I reached home, it was almost 2 a.m. (Thanks, Paul and Shawn!)

Anyhow, after 3 days, my mood has now normalized. Everything happens for a good reason. And I should look on the bright side of it. The silver lining.

Dear AFE8105, you have served me well. R.I.P. You’ll be missed.

What is left of my car..
